In my eyes the highlight of this night was the kebab at the end. I'm wondering how this used to be the best club in the world. But looking at Berghain all of that was actually negative. After my holiday in Berlin I had plenty to tell my friends. Considering that we are all adults, I don't think this is an acceptable behaviour. We were forced to delete the photo from the phone and we were threadend to be removed from the club. It took a member of staff two seconds before we were shouted at. Me and my boyfriend dared to take a photo of us. A short remark to the artwork within the club - I was neither impressed to see a gigantic photograph of an anus nor a penis version of the human centipede. Without going into much more details, everyone can imagine how this places would be used later in the night. We also noticed the dark corners throughout the club. Whilst we walked around the club we were asked twice if we had drugs. We knew it would be techno music, but this was hardcore. The white tiles in the room reminded me to a butcher room, which could be from a scene in a horror movie, like Saw. We used the toilets downstairs and I have to say I was afraid of doing that. It is more than an understatement if I would describe the club as dark. As we asked the ticket lady how much the entry was she replied very rude. We were searched by the security and were told that the use of cameras was prohibited. We have been lucky enough to get in there. Me and my boyfriend watched the bouncers sending away a lot of people without giving any reason. From outside the club looked like an old and deserted warehouse/factory. The club is in the Eastern part of Berlin and not easy to find if it is your first time in the city. Yes, it was a shocking and controversial experience. Saying this I have to explain that I think that even bad experiences enrich your horizon and your life. If I would rate only the experience, I would maybe give Berghain more than 1 star. Do whatever you want, talk to people, drink, respect the other people, and finally dance, dance, dance. (and if you don't like techno or house music - don't come - don't be surprised that the music is electronic and loud). It is the best club in the world - that's why the queue is there. Everyone has been refused from Berghain, so don't argue, it won't change anything. If you don't get in, there's no shortage of other clubs in Berlin. There's lots of different people of all races, genders, and nationalities inside. It's not personal, it's not racist/sexist/anti spanish/anti english etc. See above - the bouncers have to see who fits. The bouncers' job is try to weed out the people who will stare, and make others uncomfortable which means 2. If you just want to go to stare - this isn't the place for you.
If you look like you don't belong at a gay sex club, then it mightn't be the place for you.
Lots of people come just for the dark corners. So you should expect "gay" things to be going on. It's a gay club that lets in some (and only some) straight people. some people seemed to be surprised that they couldn't get in, and some people seemed to be surprised with what they saw when they did get in (what, it's a techno club? there's a photo of a anus? but still want to take photos even after being told not to) 1.
